Mike Dwyer, who joined SDSC in 2005, recently retired from his role as SDSC’s leader in web services, including web hosting, database service, programming and related services.
Reporting into various divisions over the years, Dwyer most recently served as a member of the External Relations team for which he contributed to the team’s news and information website architecture and publishing efforts. His primary focus, however, remained on web services clients – at both SDSC and throughout UC San Diego – with underlying technical platforms. It was a demanding role at times, and he managed the challenges with tact and efficiency.
“SDSC’s hosting platform leverages a high-quality network and a team of system administrators designed to support the supercomputing resources it provides,” Dwyer said. “It was a pleasure to work with the web services team, which included platform engineers and clients to implement and manage services leveraging the platform for related research and business – allowing clients to focus on their projects and offload the technical responsibilities to dedicated staff.”
